In Dermatology, Flap Surgery is basically a careful transference of healthy and living skin tissue from one to another zone of the body; frequently to areas where, for any cause, skin and other adjacent tissues have been lost. There are several types and methods of Flap Surgery that can be used according to the case to be treated and factors as the place where this surgery needs to be applied and  the kind of tissues that are to be repaired.

Flap Surgery is one of the methods applied for eliminating benign and malign skin tumors. Once the elimination of the lesion or of the tumor has been done, this technique helps the closing and correcting of the affected area. The process consists in taking skin from one adjacent zone where it can be excessive to another place where it can be used for repairing a defect. This surgery avoids distortion of the treated area, something that would be unavoidable if it were done through a direct closing. A previous design of the surgery is done and it is applied with local anesthesia. Its final result is a natural look.
